Midnight Thief (Memory Loss)

I came across a midnight thief

Who dined on thoughts instead of beef

He tiptoed lightly through red wine

Then swam towards her sleepy mind

And plucked a stone from the abyss

A tiny thought she would not miss

Then every night he did the same

Until she did not know her name

And when the thief came in the night

To taste the sweetness of her life

The final mouthful of the past

Meant she was free, free at last

No memory of the life she lived

No midnight thief, no steak, no chips
